The Nazis did not want the Tower

In 1939, when the Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler visited occupied Prague, he expressed the wish that the Petřín Lookout Tower be torn down, because it apparently ruined the view from the windows of Prague Castle. The Czechs, however, succeeded in delaying the demolition and they ultimately managed to save the tower.
