Time scale

• 1889 – Members of the Czech Tourists Club get inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris
• 16th March 1891 – Construction of Petřín Tower launched
• 20th August 1891 – Ceremonial opening of the new observation tower
• 1938 – Fire at the top of the Tower due to wiring system failure
• 1939 – Hitler expressed his wish to demolish Petřín Tower
• 1979 – Due to its bad state of repair the Tower was closed
• 1991 – On the occasion of the 2nd Anniversary Exposition the Tower was reopened
